Ròu cōng róng (Desert-living Cistanche; 肉苁蓉) is one of the most widely used kidney tonic herbs in Chinese medicine. It has even been given the name "ginseng of the deserts". Ròu cōng róng tonifies the kidney Yang and replenishes kidney essence and blood, thereby having a therapeutic effect in improving the sexual and reproductive health of both men and women.
Benefits:
● Alleviates kidney-deficiency induced erectile dysfunction; involuntary ejaculation of semen during sleep (nocturnal emission); involuntary loss of semen (spermatorrhea); premature ejaculation; urinary disorders such as incontinence or post-urinary dripping; ringing in the ears, etc.
● Alleviates female infertility due to cold uterus
● Strengthens the lower back and knees
● Moistens the intestines and alleviates chronic constipation
Contraindications:
As this herb functions to invigorate the Yang and moisten bowels, it is not recommended for use in cases of Yin deficiency with signs of heat; diarrhea; as well as constipation due to excess heat in the stomach and intestines.
