American ginseng is considered a Yin-tonic that is cooling, Qi-tonifying and yet calms the spirit. Consuming it helps to clear heat and promote the generation of body fluids, making it beneficial to those who experience vexation, shortness of breath, lack of strength, thirst and dry mouth.
On the outside, wild American ginseng has a darker colour and exhibits more concentric growth rings than cultivated American ginseng. Another distinctive feature is the long neck. In terms of taste, Wild American Ginseng carries a more earthy and potent flavour than its cultivated counterparts, which is expected of a wild root that was grown in pristine soils filled with high minerals and nutrients bestowed by mother nature. Our American ginseng is of superior quality, with a natural pure taste thatÕs mildly sweet, rich and refreshing.
The most potent ginseng are the wild ones. As compared to its cultivated counterparts, the Chinese believe that the slower growing wild roots, which are harvested at an older age, absorb more curative power from the forest floor (Persons, 1994).
For over 70 years, we take pride in ensuring the authenticity of our wild American ginseng. Our wild American ginseng, sourced directly from America, undergoes rigorous grading and sorting that is conducted in-house to ensure superior quality to our customers.
Wing Joo Loong has been a hallmark for quality traditional herbs in Singapore for more than 70 years. Do you know? Our roots run deep, dating back to 1947, where we first started as a wholesaler for TCM herbs.
American ginseng is one of Wing Joo Loong's flagship products, trusted for its authenticity and superior quality. It generally takes around 4 to 8 years to plant, grow and harvest American ginseng. Every ginseng goes through a long growth cycle and process before it reaches the hands of consumers: preparation of land, sowing of seeds, watering, fertilising, managing crops, harvesting, washing, drying, sorting, grading and packing.
The increased demand for American ginseng has seen the introduction of China-grown American ginseng in the market. While that has been the trend in recent years, we only source from the motherland of American ginseng and clearly state the country origin on our product labels. Our American ginseng are imported from America and our family-run plantation in Canada, while sorting and grading take place in-house in Singapore.
