Wing Joo Loong’s Kunlun Snow Chrysanthemum (昆仑雪菊) are sourced from the alpine region of the Kunlun Mountains in China. These wild chrysanthemum flowers are rare due to their short blooming season and low yield. The low temperatures in the mountains slow down the growth of the flowers, giving them time to acquire more flavour and nutrients, resulting in a dark red brew that has a distinctive sweet floral smell and notes of caramel.
For generations, chrysanthemum has been valued for its health promoting properties. As a natural coolant and diuretic, it helps to flush out toxins from the body, clear internal heat and relieve sore throats and fevers.
Taste notes: Distinctive sweet floral smell and notes of caramel
Preparation: Infuse 1-2 teaspoons in hot water for about 5 minutes before consuming. For a cold brew tea, use room temperature water instead and refrigerate for 2 hours or longer if you prefer a stronger taste. (Note: It is recommended to pour away the first brew to 'wash' the tea)
Recommendation: Infuse chrysanthemum with wolfberries or red dates to relieve tired eyes and nourish the blood, or mix chrysanthemum with some honeysuckle and rock sugar to soothe sore throat and dispel heat.
